If you’re looking for a long-lasting tooth replacement solution, you may be a great candidate for All-on-4 dental implants. Built to provide a natural-looking dental replacement, All-on-4 implants are durable and fit seamlessly into your smile.
Wondering whether All-on-4 implants are the right choice for you? Here’s everything you need to know about All-on-4 implants and what to expect during an All-on-4 installation procedure.
What Makes All-on-4 Implants Different from Regular Implants?
Like regular implants, All-on-4 implants are secured to the jaw bone using titanium screws. This installation procedure ensures that the implants are sturdy and suitable for years of wear and tear.
Unlike regular implants, which typically require 6-8 screws to be fully secured, All-on-4 implants only use 4 screws to mount a full bridge. During the procedure, titanium screws are placed at the front and sides of the jaw, with the posterior screws tilted at a 45° angle. By installing the posterior screws at a 45° angle, the screws avoid areas of the jaw with depleted bone-density, ensuring a secure and stable fit.
What Does the Procedure Entail?
Getting a set of All-on-4 dental implants is an investment in your long-term dental health.
Initial Consultation
To begin the process, you’ll meet with your dentist for an initial consultation. During this appointment your dentist will likely determine your dental history, take x-rays and scans of your mouth, and make bite impressions of your gums and any remaining teeth. These tests are meant to rule out any potential complications or underlying conditions that need to be addressed before the implant procedure. Your dentist will use the impressions of your mouth to fashion temporary wax “test” dentures that serve as a fit guide. Finally, you’ll review the upcoming procedure and your dentist will provide relevant information and answer questions.
Procedure
During the procedure most patients are sedated with an IV solution. Your dentist will start by removing any remaining teeth or fragments and ensure the gum tissue is healthy. Then, your dentist will install the titanium implant posts into the jawbone and attach abutments to the ends of the implant posts. The abutments are what the prosthesis will attach to when installed. During the procedure you will have your temporary tooth replacement bridge installed. The final tooth replacement appliance will be customized-fit to your mouth after you’ve had time to heal.
Post-Procedure
The recovery from All-on-4 replacements is fairly straightforward. Your dentist will likely prescribe some pain-management medications and advise you on the best oral hygiene routine to follow during healing. Healing typically takes a few months. Once your mouth is sufficiently healed, you’ll return to the dentist to get your permanent replacement appliance. If cared for properly, All-on-4 replacements can last 20+ years.
What are the Benefits of All-on-4 Implants?
There’s a reason why All-on-4 implants are such a popular tooth-replacement option. Here are a few of the reasons why our patients choose All-in-Four implants:
- They are More Cost Effective – Dental implants often rack-up a hefty price-tag. Since All-on-4 implants are installed using only four screws, they are much more cost-effective than having each tooth individually replaced with a single implant.
- They are Long-Lasting – For folks with tooth loss, wearing dentures is often arduous and frustrating over a long period of time. In contrast, All-on-4 implants can last for decades and blend-in seamlessly.
- They are Easy to Clean – Dental implants don’t require any special cleaning or daily maintenance. After recovery, implants should be cleaned twice a day just like natural teeth.
- They Function like Natural Teeth – All-on-4 implants are made to look and function like natural teeth. Enjoy hard and crunchy foods, chew and talk with ease, and regain your confidence when you smile.
